2021 was a year when we introduced important tools and initiatives to support climate protection and transition towards climate neutrality, human rights and business ethics in line with the corporate social responsibility strategy.
During this period, the Group maintained its leading position in the Responsible Company Ranking, received the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) certification which confirms that the company meets the highest environmental standards and operates in line with the idea of sustainable development, and joined the Declaration of Responsible Selling, an initiative dedicated to the financial industry to improve service standards and counter unfair practices in the financial market.
The past year further accelerated the evolution towards ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance factors), which is an important pillar of the company’s development and business strategy.
This is largely the result of changes in the business regulatory environment across the European Union, including Taxonomy, CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation) for life insurance companies. As a result, ESG, climate risk and non-financial reporting were the subject of many conferences, debates, training sessions and publications at ERGO Hestia in 2021.
Aware of its responsibility and impact as an investor, the Company introduced new Responsible Investment Guidelines in 2021. The inclusion of ESG (environmental, including climate, social and governance) criteria in the investment guidelines is an integral part of the investment strategy.

The Group published another sustainability report, “Care”, which presents for the first time the measurement of the carbon footprint across the supply chain (Scope 3). A socio-economic impact report was also produced for the first time to show the impact of the ERGO Hestia Group’s activities on the Polish economy.
As regards corporate social responsibility initiatives, the Group continues to implement initiatives and commitments in cooperation with credible local and international organisations, including the Ethics and Climate Positive Programme Standard (UN Global Compact), Diversity Programmes (Responsible Business Forum), Climate Leadership and the Sustainable Development Goals Partnership (UNEP Grid-Warsaw). The Company continued its long-standing environmental and social projects including sponsorships in the areas of sport, culture and education.
2021 once again confirmed ERGO Hestia’s strong position in the area of Sustainability, as evidenced by received awards and distinctions.
The Company pursues its Sustainability objectives and commitments in line with the ERGO Hestia Group’s 2021-2023 Business Strategy “Power of Information, Power of Community”.
